Beautiful, green, smart, comprehensive interpretation of LED lights technology

Walking in the street, seeing other people's headlights look dazzling, cool, and beautiful, but my car lights look so monotonous that I can't help but have some envy, jealousy, and loss. In fact, the car headlights that look gorgeous are not as complicated as they are supposed to be. What I want to say is, let your car show off, you can! Then give your car a dazzling LED light too!

Below, we come to understand LED lights

LED is the abbreviation of Light Emitting Diode, it has a very popular Chinese name - light-emitting diodes, they are often used in light boxes, signs and various electrical appliances and light and backlight characters appear, but also often car taillights, high brake The important components of lights and daytime running lights.

Where is the LED headlight?

Since we talk about LED, we must first talk about why it is so hot, we all know that the current mainstream headlights on the car are nothing more than two categories: halogen headlights and HID xenon headlamps (high-intensity discharge lamps), the rise of the LED What advantages do headlights have over these two types of mainstream headlamps?

For cars, LED light sources (not limited to headlights) have the following benefits:

1. Energy saving and low cost: LED's luminous efficiency is nearly twice that of fluorescent lamps. If we use our daily energy-saving lamps to fight comparisons, energy-saving lamps than the incandescent energy-saving 4/5, and LED energy-saving lamps than the energy-saving 1/4. In the car, the same daytime running lights, LED components consume only 1/20 of the power of halogen lamps. The cost of LED components has also been greatly reduced year by year, and current costs and prices are still falling by more than 20% per year.

2. Long life: LED components currently used in automobiles can basically reach the level of 50,000 hours, and well-known automotive lighting suppliers have been able to provide LED components with a lifespan of 100,000 hours. Conversion is equivalent to 11 years... Taking into account the frequency of use of the lights, LED components do not need to be replaced during the entire design life of the vehicle. In contrast, the lifetime of a xenon lamp is only about 3,000 hours...

3. Good durability: The LED device has a simple structure, excellent impact resistance and shock resistance, and is not easily broken. It can adapt well to various environments.

4. The small size and compact size of the LED components facilitates layout and design: This is a huge advantage of LED. This advantage fully meets the evolutionary needs of automotive manufacturers in design, breaking the shackles of the lighting system on modeling innovation, and let us have More creative automotive products.

5. Responsiveness: LED lighting only requires microseconds. It can be used to quickly illuminate the taillights and turn signals to achieve better warning effect. It is used on the headlights and has more advantages compared to xenon and halogen lamps. The high response speed provides better protection for driving safety.

6. Low brightness decay: LED brightness is high, and the light brightness attenuation is much lower than that of halogen lamps. It is suitable for warning lights such as lighting, brake lights, and turn signals.

7. It can be driven by low voltage direct current, low load, weak interference, low requirement for use environment and good adaptability. Unlike a xenon lamp, it requires a booster device (high voltage package).

● Why is the LED headlight so late?

As a matter of fact, electric lights have been invented for more than 150 years (obviously I'm not counting from Edison). What a LED looks like is a novelty. In fact, the origin of LEDs can also be traced back to 1907 more than 100 years ago. In that year, Henry Joseph Round, who was in the radio industry, applied a certain voltage to the silicon carbide crystal and observed a dim yellow light on the cathode. This should be regarded as the originator of the LED.

The actual significance of the LED was not invented until more than 50 years ago, so this time node in the 1960s was considered by many to be the real starting point for LED. With the continuous development of technology, the color of LED is also gradually expanded from the earliest red light, orange, yellow, green... Early LED is mainly used for light sources of various instruments, and indicator lights of various devices, followed by The increase in color began to apply to traffic lights, large displays, and car lights.

The previous LED was unable to emit the "white light" needed for headlight lighting because there was no "white light" in the visible light spectrum. Instead of monochromatic light, it was a combination of multiple monochromatic lights. The white light seen by the human eye requires a mixture of blue light and yellow light of two wavelengths or mixing of blue light, green light, and red light at three wavelengths (this is the three primary colors of a color TV). Since both methods require blue light, blue LEDs have become an important technology node for the development of white LEDs.

Until the end of the last century, with the successful development of ultra-bright blue LED, the development of white LED really achieved a phased progress. The color temperature of white LED is close to daylight, the lighting effect is more natural, and it is closer to the color seen by human eyes in the daytime. LED officially joined the field of lighting is also from this time.

The method of LED synthesis of white light is the two methods mentioned in the previous section. Currently, the use of blue LED chips, yellow phosphor phosphors, or yellow phosphor filters to form white LEDs is now widely used. Now it is widely used in daytime applications. Both the headlights and the white LEDs used as headlights use the same principle. The emergence of white LEDs can also be included in the history of the development of liquid crystal displays. It has made significant contributions to improving the color performance of liquid crystal displays and promoting the popularity of liquid crystal displays. .

Everyone must have noticed that many cars actually use LED taillights very early on, but LED headlights are only popular items in recent years. One of the reasons is that the LED mentioned above cannot produce the problem of white light; there is also the problem of the brightness and cost of the LED. Since the commercialization of LED, the brightness has increased by nearly a hundred times, while the price has dropped by several hundred times. At a rate of 30 to 40% per year, the cost reduction and brightness increase make LED finally have the conditions to invest in the car headlights; the third reason is that before the automobile developed countries in North America, Europe, etc. There are no relevant standards regarding the use of LED headlamps. Since 2005, SAE and ECE have successively issued relevant standards.

To sum up, the technology of LED lights has gradually matured, and it will usher in an explosive development in the future. There will be more and more bright cars on the street. Of course, there must be your one!
